Parents urged to apply for insurance

The Association for Children of New Jersey (ACNJ) is encouraging parents in Middlesex County to fill out applications for health insurance that were mailed in early June by the State of New Jersey.

The applications — marked Express Lane Application for Health Insurance — were sent to families who have children who are uninsured. The outreach by the state is designed to get more eligible, uninsured children enrolled in NJ FamilyCare.

Applications sent to Spanish-speaking families are English on one side and Spanish on the other. Spanish speakers are available at the NJ FamilyCare toll-free number.

NJ FamilyCare is a low-cost or free program for income-eligible families. A family of four earning up to $77,175 can qualify to insure their children for approximately $130 a month. NJ FamilyCare ADVANTAGE is a "buy-in" program for families with a maximum monthly premium of $411 for a family with three or more children. Information provided to NJ FamilyCare is used only to enroll children.

For more information, call NJ Family- Care at 800-701-0710 or ACNJ at 973-643- 3876 or email at njfamilycare@acnj.org, or visit www.njfamilycare.org.
