Epilepsy fundraiser raises $3,010

A fundraiser held by the Meehan family on June 20 raised $3,010 to benefit the Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey.

The fourth annual barbecue was held in honor of Michael Meehan, who was a 26- year-old North Brunswick and Kendall Park resident who was involved in a fatal motor vehicle accident in February 2006. Meehan suffered with epilepsy since childhood, so his family established the Emergency Medication Fund through the Epilepsy Foundation to help people with the disease who cannot afford their prescriptions.

In previous years, the Meehans have raised about $15,000.

Further donations may be mailed to the Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey, Attn: Michael Meehan Fund, 1 AAA Drive, Suite 203, Trenton, NJ 08691. For more information, visit www.efnj.com.
