      N.B. council honors scholar award recipients

      Pamela Habib Pamela Habib NORTH BRUNSWICK — The Township Council honored two Department of Parks & Recreation Scholar Athlete Artist award recipients for April at their public meeting April 7.

      Pamela Habib is a senior at North Brunswick Township High School. She is an honor roll student and member of the National Honor Society. She has a 4.3 grade point average and a near-perfect SAT score.

      She has been a member of the Alchemist Theatre Company since 2005, and served as the treasurer in 2006 and 2007. She will be the student director of this spring's production of "Bye, Bye Birdie."

      Habib is a member of the French Club and the National French Honors Society. She is a co-founder of the club "Sisters on the Right Path" and is a member of the Senior Leadership New Jersey Pep Program, serving as a peer leader since 2008.

      Habib has accumulated more than 100 hours of community service since 2005.

      Kevin Porsolt is also a senior at the township high school. He is an honor roll student and a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.

      He has also played lacrosse for the past four years, including three years on the varsity team.

      He plans to study business marketing and possibly law in college.

      In addition, the council honored the town's nine dispatchers for being a critical link to police, fire and emergency responders, in honor of National Public Safety Telecommunicators week, which is April 12-18 this year.
