Three teens arrested for robbing taxi drivers

NORTH BRUNSWICK - Three teenage males were arrested for the robbery of two taxicab drivers on May 21.

At around 12:30 a.m., the drivers, who are from New Brunswick and Somerset, were transporting one passenger fromNew Brunswick to the Farrington Inn in North Brunswick, according to police Lt. Roger Reinson. Upon arrival at the inn, one of the teens produced a knife and demanded money. At the same time, a third individual who was not in the car made his way toward the cab to assist in the robbery.

At some point, Reinson said, the driver put the car in reverse, and although one teen jumped out, the other was detained inside by the passenger cab driver.

Police were able to arrest the 15-yearold New Brunswick resident, who was in the car, for robbery and unlawful possession of a weapon. Upon further investigation, a 16-year-old Franklin boy and a 16-year-old North Brunswick teen were also arrested on the same charges, Reinson said.

The cab drivers did not sustain any injuries.
