Man pleads guilty to sexually assaulting boy
BY CHRIS MURINO Staff Writer

SOUTH BRUNSWICK - A 29- year-old township man will serve up to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a 7- year-old boy in a restroom last April.

Charles Waldron pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree crime. State Superior Court Judge Dennis Nieves sentenced him to 13 years in prison, but he will receive credit for the year he has been held in Middlesex CountyAdult Corrections Center in North Brunswick. Waldron must serve at least 85 percent of his term before he is eligible for parole.

On April 20, 2007, the victim was with his mother at the Brunswick Square Mall in East Brunswick, according to assistant prosecutor Nicole Albert. He had to go to the bathroom, and he went in while his mother waited outside. While inside, Waldron sexually assaulted the boy. He then performed oral sex on the victim.

The boy eventually told his mother what happened before leaving the store and security found Waldron still in the vicinity of the bathroom.

"He was actually there to meet a consenting adult for consensual sex and instead encountered the victim," Albert said.

Albert said she does not believe Waldron was actively on the lookout for underage boys.

IfWaldron is released, he will be forced to comply with Megan's Law and will also be under parole supervision for life, Albert said.

With a search warrant, police found some child pornography at the home of Waldron as well, a charge he also pleaded guilty to. Possessing the pornography is a fourth-degree crime and he is serving an 18-month sentence concurrently with his other sentence.
