He said there are 17,500 names included on the officers'memorial inWashington, D.C. Assemblyman Upendra Chivukula said that officers sacrifice their lives to save others, and North Brunswick council President Cathy Nicola thanked the officers for their "dedication and diligence and professionalism" in keeping the town's neighborhoods and streets safe. Michael McGinn, Police Benevolent Association Local 160 vice president, asked the community to take a moment and reflect on the sacrifices of police officers, while reminding the officers themselves to hold their heads high and to be proud of wearing their uniform. After the reading of the poem "A Part of America Died" by retired Capt. Michael Misurell, Lt. Keith Buckley read the honor roll of the 13 North Brunswick officers who have died in the line of duty. "It is the cooperation and partnership of the citizens of North Brunswick and the officers of North Brunswick … that keep the community safe," concluded Lt. Roger Reinson |
