Yearling auction, preview slated during April

The ninth annual yearling auction sponsored by the North American Equine Ranching Information Council will be held April 27 at the Round House, Cook Campus, Rutgers University, North Brunswick.

The yearlings will also be shown at a preview April 12 at 5 p.m., and April 26 at 10 a.m. during the Ag Field Day horse show by students of Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences young horse teaching and research program.

Offered will be 12 yearling horses - six geldings and six fillies - for sale as performance horse prospects. The yearlings have spent the past eight months as part of the young horse teaching and research program. Approximately 30 students took part in the program and learned to train and handle young horses, and assist with nutrition research. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the program's following year.

For more information, call Dr. Sarah Ralston at (732) 932-9404 or e-mail Ralston@aesop.rutgerse.edu.
