S.B. elementary school principal to assume new position in district
BY CHRIS MURINO Staff Writer

SOUTH BRUNSWICK - Richard Chromey, the principal of Constable Elementary School in Kendall Park, will be leaving his post in April to take up some new duties for the district.

Chromey will now serve as the new director of program assessment and data management for the South Brunswick schools.

"I had six great years here at Constable," Chromey said. "The school is in great shape. It's time to try to contribute to the district in a different way."

Chromey's appointment to his new position is scheduled for April 15.

"This date is flexible and will depend on when a new principal is chosen," said Rebecca Leonard, the school district's public information officer. "The district and Mr. Chromey are committed to providing the students, parents and staff with a smooth transition of leadership."

Chromey said he would be lying if he said he wasn't nervous, but that he is getting more comfortable with the fact that he is leaving.

"I definitely have reservations in the sense that I love the kids and the staff," Chromey said. "But I'm up for a challenge."

Chromey said the daily interactions with the students were enjoyable.

"That's what I'm going to miss," he said. "That's really why everyone in the education field is doing it."

Schools Superintendent Gary McCartney has recommended Suzanne Luck- Born to become the next principal.

"It was a proud moment today when Dr. McCartney recommended her," Chromey said. "It's great that someone who I've grown up with, administratively, will continue the work we've done."

As director of program assessment and data management, the "longest title in South Brunswick," according to Chromey, will also give him a variety of duties.

He will be managing the district's student information system, coordinating assessments in the district and managing a lot of the programs going on, among other things.
