Marettia "Myrt" Blackburn

Mrs. Blackburn, 81, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died Jan. 4, 2008, in Florida. Born in Thomas, W. Va., she relocated to Port St. Lucie in 1999. She was a teacher and administrator at Constable School, South Brunswick, for several years, retiring in 1990. Prior to that, she served as one of the first secretaries at the South Jersey YMCA, and also taught swimming. She was active in New Jersey politics, and served on the board of directors of the National EducationAssociation during the 1970s. She enjoyed travel and golf. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, George "Bud" of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law Robert and Nancy Blackburn of the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick; and a granddaughter.
