Two children become Santa's worst nightmare

SOUTH BRUNSWICK - Talk about unexpected robbers.

According to police, a 9-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy stole $200 worth of presents from a home on Christmas Eve.

South Brunswick Police Detective Jim Ryan said the kids used a credit card to pick open the door of the house and then stole a dozen wrapped gifts.

The victims spoke with neighbors in the area and eventually talked to a relative of the two child suspects, who had wondered where the extra gifts had come from and who had bought them. Eventually, the kids confessed to their mother and the police were contacted.

"This is not normal behavior," Ryan said. "We still have some questions about the circumstances of the incident. We'll continue to work with the residents to make sure this is an isolated thing."

No charges will be filed against the children, police said.
