      Sunday school, youth group begin at S.B. church
            St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 142 Sand Hill Road, South Brunswick, will begin Sunday school for children in preschool through sixth grade 10:15 a.m. Sept. 14. The church's youth group for children in grades 6-12 will meet 5:30-7 p.m. Sept. 21. The group offers activities such as recreation, mission, music and other programs.

      David Braham Quartet to perform Sept. 12
            South Brunswick Arts Commission will present the David Braham Quartet to open the fall season of South Brunswick's jazz café 8 p.m. Sept. 12 at Herb Eckert Auditorium at the South Brunswick Municipal Complex, 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction. Pianist/organist Braham's performance will feature Greg Bufford, drums; Vinnie Corrao, guitar; and vocalist Doris Spears.

      East Side Slam car show slated at SBHS Sept. 14
            Pan East Side Slam car show will be held Sept. 14 at South Brunswick High School (SBHS), 750 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick. Roll in is 10 a.m.-noon, and the show noon-5 p.m. Cost is $10 to show a car or for a SPL sound off, and spectator admission is free. Proceeds benefit the Parker Clapp Scholarship fund for SBHS students.

      North Bruns. to hold Sept. 11 ceremony at memorial
            North Brunswick Township will hold a ceremony in honor of the victims of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, at 7 p.m. Sept. 11 at the township memorial on Hermann Road. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved to the courtroom of the municipal building across from the site. Hermann Road will be closed around 6:15 p.m. so attendees are advised to arrive early.

      New book group to meet at S.B. Library Sept. 17
            The South Brunswick Public Library will begin a new book discussion group, beginning with "Think and Grow Rich" by Napolean Hill at 7 p.m. Sept. 17. The new group sponsored by Friends of the Library is based on the positive thinking themes introduced in the "Secret to Successful Living" program at the library.

      Canine CPR and first aid class slated for Sept. 13
            The Natural Health Center of Central NJ, 2430 Route 130 north, North Brunswick, is sponsoring a certification course in canine CPR and first aid 9 a.m. Sept. 13. The course is by the American Safety Council and will teach skills needed to handle any pet emergency. Fee is $45 for class and textbook.             The South Brunswick Senior Center will hold an arts and crafts show 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 18. Needlework, ceramics, photography, paintings, and handmade objects will be accepted. Drop-off will be 9 a.m. the day of show. An art lecture, "Michelangelo: The Secrets of the Vatican," by artist Maurice Mahler, will be presented at 2 p.m.
