S.B. resident dies in car accident

SOUTH BRUNSWICK - A township woman and her daughter, from Plainsboro, were killed in a car accident in North Carolina on Dec. 8.

Catherine Salter, 75, and Gail Salter, 50, died at the scene. The accident occurred at about 6:50 a.m. on Interstate 95, near Benson, N.C.

Salter began to back up northbound on a southbound lane when a tractor-trailer driven by RonaldHudson, 50, smashed into the Salters' 2001 Saturn, driving both cars into a culvert.

"It occurred right near an off-ramp," said Sgt. J.A. Starling of the North Carolina Highway Patrol. "Just on pure speculation, it's possible that they missed their exit."

Hudson sustained no injuries and will not be charged with any crime. Starling said he was at no fault for the accident.
