Fastbreak Basketball fourthand fifth-grade girls travel team won their first game versus a tough team from Hopewell Valley in Robbinsville. Tough defense, rebounding and a few key shots allowed the girls to come away with the victory. Shannon McCarthy led all scorers, and Ally Warren led the team in rebounds. Stephanie Schwailik and Sam Smalley led the team in steals and helped keep Hopewell to 10 points. Abbie Auerbach, Jessica Manne and Ilana Kamenetsky shut down the opposing team's top scorer. Bianca Giliberti displayed great ball handling under pressure and Maddy Lublin hit a key basket to help seal the win.

Spotswood Soccer Club will hold in-person registration for the spring season on Dec. 15, Jan. 12 and Jan. 26 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Spotswood Municipal Building. Girls and boys ages 4- 14 (as of Oct. 1, 2007) are eligible to play. Registration forms can also be found on www.spotswoodsoccer.com and can be mailed to the address on the form.
