BY JENNIFER AMATO Staff Writer

NORTH BRUNSWICK - A 25-year-old township resident was charged with several counts of sexual misconduct by the Morris County Prosecutor's Office on Friday.

David N. Scheck was charged with one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, one count of second-degree sexual assault, one count of third-degree aggravate criminal sexual contact, one count of fourthdegree criminal sexual contact, one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and one count of third-degree witness tampering, according to a press release issued by the prosecutor's office.

In the statement released by Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi and Washington Township Chief of Police Michael Bailey, the charges are a result of an investigation that revealed that beginning in April 2007, when Scheck was employed by the West Morris Central High School as the band director, he engaged in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student at the school.

Anyone with information should call the Washington Township Police Department at (908) 876- 3232, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office at (973) 285 - 6200 or the Morris County Sheriff's Office Crime Stopper Program at (973) 267- 2255.

Scheck is presumed innocent until proven guilty despite the pending charges.
