Foreign film series at N.B. Library begins Oct. 11 The North Brunswick Public Library, 880 Hermann Road, will join 10 other libraries in Middlesex and Union counties to present a series of three international films. "Together," a 2003 film in Chinese with English subtitles, will be shown Oct. 11. It tells the story of a 13-year-old violin prodigy's journey from a small, impoverished village to Beijing with his father. The clashing values of modern China are mirrored in the boy's journey to maturity. The film won three Golden Roosters, China's Academy Award. "Free Zone," an Israeli film staring Natalie Portman, will be shown Nov. 9, and "Elling," a Norwegian comedy, will be shown Dec. 13. All show times are 7:30 p.m. The films are sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Seating is limited, and registration is requested. For more information, call (732) 246-3545. |
