Club aims to educate youth on conservation
The conservation department of North Brunswick Woman's Club recently completed several activities throughout the township and surrounding areas to draw attention to our need to conserve our resources, educate our citizens and help improve the lives of those around us.

A competition held throughout the schools was designed to educate our students on the importance of recycling and conservation. Students from Parsons Elementary School took part in a T-shirt competition, while students at Linwood Middle School took part in a poster contest. At the high school, students took part in a photographic competition. All art work is on display at the Board of Education headquarters.

In April, members of the Club participated in the Adopt a Road Program, cleaning up Finnegan's Lane from Route 1 to Route 27. In May, members visited the Ronald McDonald House in New Brunswick, planting flowers around the play area and then being treated to a tour of the facility. This activity was new for the club but important because it provided an opportunity to make the playground beautiful for sick children.

Our goal in the Conservation Department is to bring greater awareness of the environment and conservation to all residents. This is a top priority. We need to ensure that as we prepare our children for school and college, we also prepare them to conserve our limited natural resources. We need to educate the younger ones so that conservation and recycling become just as important as instant messages and blogs.
