Free trips offered by So. Brunswick Senior Center

South Brunswick Senior Center, 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, will offer free local trips for township seniors age 55 and older beginning Sept. 6 with a trip to Columbus Flea Market.

A trip to Wal-Mart/Burlington Coat Factory will be Sept. 12, and Hometown Buffet/Farm Market & Entenmanns Sept. 19. All trips depart the center at 10:30 a.m.

The center will begin an environmental club for residents age 55 and older Sept. 7 at 11:15 a.m. The club is for individuals interested in the environment and that want to take an active part in saving the world a little piece at a time.

Deputy Mayor Carol Barrett has donated 50 tickets to the South Brunswick Office on Aging for township seniors age 55 and older to see Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter Melissa Manchester Sept. 11 at 1:30 p.m. at PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel. The Office on Aging will also provide free transportation to the show for individuals that do not drive. The bus will depart Woodlot Park, New Road, Kendall Park section of South Brunswick, at 10:30 a.m. and stop at the Adelphi Diner for lunch. The bus will return approximately 4:30 p.m. Signup is first-come, first-served.

The Office on Aging is offering a free six-week educational/support group for individuals suffering from chronic pain Sept. 11 at 10:45 a.m. Meetings will be at South Brunswick Senior Center, 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick. Various speakers will discuss specific techniques to help cope with chronic pain. Participants will receive a relaxation to use at home, and the last session will end with a luncheon.
