Obituaries Edward P. Shepsko Mr. Shepsko, 74, of North Brunswick, died July 30, 2007, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in South River, he resided in East Brunswick prior to relocating to North Brunswick 35 years ago. He owned and operated Shepsko Plumbing and Heating, North Brunswick, retiring eight years ago. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Mary of Ostrabrama Roman Catholic Church, South River. He was a member of the New Jersey Master Plumbers Association, and past president of Bayshore Plumbing Association. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Catherine Saltarella Shepsko; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John Kriegl, and Kevin and Christine Kriegl; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Joseph Decker; two brothers, Paul and Eugene Shepsko; and six grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Church. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Brunswick. Arrangements ere by Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River. Frank A. "Bunkey" Czarnecki Mr. Czarnecki, 76, of North Brunswick, died July 30, 2007, at Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in South River, he resided in Jamesburg prior to relocating to North Brunswick 25 years ago. Mr. Czarnecki was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, South River, for more than 20 years, retiring in 1981. He served with the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954, and earned the rank of staff sergeant. He was a past commander of American Legion Post No. 214, South River, and past commander, past judge advocate, and past commander of the Past Commanders Club, Middlesex County. He was a member of the North Brunswick Senior Citizens. Mr. Czarnecki was predeceased by four sisters, Sophie Haaz, Lola Wein, Hedwig Plata and Stacia De Rosa; and three brothers, John, Anthony and Leo Czarnecki. He is survived by a brother, Joseph Czarnecki; a sister, Irene Timko; his companion of 32 years, Angeline T. Connelly; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia Perez, Joann and Bob Buchin, and Kathleen and Tom Herkert; a son, Richard Connelly; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be held Aug. 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Selover Funeral Home, North Brunswick. A funeral service will be Aug. 3 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at St. James Cemetery, Jamesburg.
Anita Raker Mozgai Mrs. Mozgai, 57, of North Brunswick, died July 26, 2007, at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia. Born in Shamokin, Pa., she resided in North Brunswick, and Kitty Hawk, N.C., prior to relocating to New Hope, Pa., 1 1/2 years ago. She was a registered nurse and vice president of nursing at Carrier Clinic, Belle Mead, retiring in 1995. She was listed din "Who's Who in American Nursing," and belong to several nursing associations. She was a volunteer at Hot Line, Kitty Hawk, N.C., and The Full Circle Thrift Store, New Briton, Pa., both which benefited abused women. She was predeceased by a brother, Michael Raker. She is survived by her husband, Frank Mozgai; a son and daughter-in-law, Francis and Stefanie Mozgai of Hamilton Township; her stepmother, Peggy Raker of East Brunswick; four sisters, Judith Lankey of Milltown, Debra Chlan of Gap, Pa., Justine Anderson of Hamilton Township, and Amy Baldesweiller of East Brunswick; a stepbrother, Ricky Semon of Pennington; a stepsister, Sherry Koken of Basking Ridge; a half-brother; a half-sister; and two granddaughters. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, North Brunswick. Interment was at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick. Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057-0007. Joan Sharp Legaster Mrs. Legaster, 75, of Spotswood, died July 29, 2007, in Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center, Edison. Prior to her retirement in 1992, she was a part-time waitress at the Wooden Nickel Restaurant, North Brunswick. A son, Louis Mika, died in February. Surviving are her husband, Joseph Legaster; three daughters, Linda Mika of Plainfield, Debra Agugliaro, and her husband, Anthony, of Monroe and JoAnn Nelson, and her husband, Fred, of Spotswood; and four grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Spotswood Funeral Home. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, South Brunswick. Arne K. Swensen Mr. Swensen, 41, of Milltown, formerly of North Brunswick, died July 18, 2007, at home. Surviving are his parents, Muriel and Arne Swensen of North Brunswick; a brother, Michael Swensen, also of North Brunswick; and his maternal grandparents, Irene and Emmet Lounsbury of Virginia. Cremation was private. A gathering of friends and relatives took place at Selover Funeral Home, North Brunswick. A service was held at the funeral home.
James Schroeder Mr. Schroeder, 80, of East Brunswick, died July 21, 2007, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. His wife, Marie DeBenedetto Schroeder, died in 1992. Surviving are a daughter, Leann Schroeder, and a son, Thomas Schroeder, both of East Brunswick; a brother, Jerry Schroeder Lancaster of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Dorothy Vorek of the Parlin section of Sayreville and Joyce Vernburg of North Brunswick; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson. A service was held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was private.
Anna Hlivak Szur Mrs. Szur, 94, of East Brunswick, formerly of New Brunswick, died July 21, 2007, at home. Her husband, Steven Szur, died in 1964. Surviving are a daughter, Dr. Marie Parnell of East Brunswick; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Hlivak of North Brunswick; a niece, Karen Pitman, also of North Brunswick; a great-niece and a great-nephew. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew's Church, East Brunswick. Interment was in Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.
