Donated property will enlarge Frisch Park

NORTH BRUNSWICK - Frisch Park will double in size with the addition of 1.46 acres being donated by a family living in the township.

Brothers Martin, Joseph and Anthony Pinizzotto, who own both residential and business properties in town, are donating the parcel of land they have owned for over 20 years to the township's open space inventory. The undeveloped, densely wooded land is located adjacent to the 1.3-acre park and the Amtrak Railroad, off McAuliffe Drive, and will be kept as an open extension to the park.

North Brunswick officially accepted the donation at the Township Council meeting Monday.

"A donation like this is a good thing; it's a big deal, and we're very grateful," Mayor Francis "Mac" Womack said.

The property, denoted on tax maps as Block 91, Lot 58.01, is vacant, as the family owns a house on a neighboring property. The area is landlocked, according to the mayor's office, so the family has been paying taxes and maintaining the land for years, possibly without any benefit to them. The Pinizzottos could not be reached for comment.

The township currently has 17 parks within the township, with developed open space totaling 221.25 acres and undeveloped space totaling 285.77 acres.
