A man who ordered a navigation system through the mail claimed his UPS package was stolen from Birchwood Court on June 25. He said when he returned home there were no packages waiting for him.
Police arrested and charged Ruben Sanchez, 21, of Somerset, with simulating an insurance card, using false identification, possession a false ID and simulating a motor vehicle insurance card during a motor vehicle stop on Route 27 and Cozzens Lane on July 3.
A navigation unit and a satellite radio antenna were stolen from a 2005 Ford Expedition parked on Birchwood Court on July 4. Police arrested and charged Robert Green, 18, Justin Movafeghzadeh, 18, and Joshua White, 19, all of North Brunswick with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, distribution of marijuana, possession of controlled dangerous substances near school property and possession within 500 feet of public property after police noticed a suspicious vehicle on Elmwood Place on July 4. The three men exited their vehicle and one began to run. Police apprehended the man along with bags containing marijuana and cash, according to reports.
A wallet was stolen from a Ford F350 parked on 13th Street on July 6. No damage was found to the car.
All of the items stored in a personal trailer at Treuman Storage on Route 130 were either destroyed or missing between March 28 and July 6, according to police reports. The renter claimed that both locks were missing and the metal door was open 18-inches and the entrance was covered with three-feet of trash. The estimated value of the items is $1,000. There is no further police action at this time.
A 2003 Honda motorcycle was stolen from Lincoln Place on July 7. There was no evidence located on the scene, according to reports.
A navigation unit was stolen from a taxicab parked on First Avenue on July 11. The front driver's-side window was smashed.
A 2003 BMW 325I had its driver's-side front window smashed and a navigation unit, iPod and FM transmitter stolen while parked in the Regal Cinemas lot on Route 1 on July 11. A search of the area yielded negative results.
Police arrested and charged Victor Kuznetsov, 21, of Somerset, with driving while intoxicated, driving without a license and reckless driving on Georges Road on July 11.
The owner of a 2003 Toyota 4Runner reported its hood scratched and front windshield broken while parked on Perry Drive on July 13.
A safety box containing a camera, jewelry and coins was removed from a residence on Route 130 on July 14. There were no signs of forced entry, according to reports.
The residence attached to the rear office of Publix Self Storage on How Lane was broken into on July 15. A rear window screen was torn and bent while another window pane was broken. Nothing appeared to be stolen, according to reports.
A brick was found lying among broken glass at a residence on Hickory Lane on July 16. The dining room window was open and broken, with footprints and droplets of blood found inside. Cash, a watch and a cell phone were stolen. The case is being investigated by the Detective Bureau.
Several suites of an office building on Livingston Avenue were broken into on July 17. The Detective Bureau is conducting an investigation.
Although the front and back doors of a residence on Cleremont Avenue were pried on July 18, no entry was made. An investigation is being handled by the Detective Bureau.
A man identified as Walter Lapp, 49, of Dayton, was found parked on the side of Riva Avenue in his vehicle on July 15 at 10:15 p.m. A North Brunswick police officer observed Lapp to have a crack pipe in his lap and cocaine in the vehicle, reports said. Lapp was charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. He was released on a summons.
Police responded to the Bagel Giant on Georges Road for a reported burglar alarm on July 15 at 10:40 p.m. Officers discovered the business had been broken into. Someone threw a rock through the window and stole money from the register. The investigation is ongoing.
Police are continuing to investigate a series of car break-ins in the Dayton and Monmouth Junction sections. The cars were broken into sometime overnight July 15-16. Officer John Penney was called at 2:45 a.m. to East Garden Apartment complex on a report of two suspicious people. When he arrived two suspects fled the area. A vehicle was reported stolen several minutes later off Major Road.
Police arrested and charged Doreen Labarbera, 47, of Monmouth Junction, at her residence after she was found in possession of cocaine. Officers were called to the residence on a reported argument. When they arrived they reportedly observed cocaine in plain view. She was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia and released on a summons.
Officers were dispatched to investigate an aggressive driver on Route 1 at 6:45 p.m. on July 14. When officers arrived in the area of Route 1 by Campus Drive, they observed John Burnett Memmel, 36, of Easton, Md., asleep at the wheel of his 1996 Dodge Ram on the side of the road. Officers concluded Memmel had fallen asleep after smoking marijuana, which he still had on him. Memmel was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams. He was released on a summons.
