Friends of Library thank supporters

For those of you who do not know, Lorraine Jackson, our well-respected, creative, innovative, and cherished library director, is retiring Sept. 1. Lorraine's departure saddens us, but she assures me that she will still remain a part of our library community. We all wish her fulfillment in her endeavors after retirement. For certain, we know that she will never be bored. Our loss will be Bart's gain. Together, may they continue to explore life's wonders.

Congratulations to our high school scholarship winners for this year. The winners of the Pearl Dammers Memorial Scholarship are Andrew Dahl and Nishita Shah. Our Teen Library Volunteers Award winner is Gouri Dongaonkar. We appreciate the contribution of all the pages and student volunteers and wish all graduating seniors much success.

Again, our shared love of books - and a good bargain - was a common thread among the shoppers at our "Hot Books in the Summer Sun" book sale. Both rooms were packed with serious buyers of all ages. Tempting goodies to eat were decimated by the end of the sale. Between the sale of books, refreshments and memberships, we experienced yet another stupendous sale

Each and every individual who donated time and expertise helped to achieve this success. Please forgive us if your name did not come to our attention:

A leaf was plated in celebration of the life of Amy Feiman Behar by the Gittleman family. Please include your leaf, acorn, branch or steppingstone to honor a special person in your life. Envelopes are available to the right of the tree.

Please join us at our next meeting Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Don Taylor quiet study room. We always have room for another Friend.
