Reading club, 'Project Runway' at S.B. Library

South Brunswick Public Library has begun its summer reading club for students in grade six through 12. There will be various teen events, and prizes.

Teens are required to track time spent reading after signing up at the library. As an incentive, librarian Saleena Davidson has offered a challenge. If the teens in the program collectively read more than 8,000 hours by Aug. 25, she will dye her hair blue.

Friends of the Library will hold a "Teen Project Runway" program June 29 from 2-5 p.m. Attendees will receive various materials to create an item of clothing. Prizes will be awarded for creativity, style and ability to use the challenge element by a panel of peers. Seating is limited and registration is required. Registration opens July 9 for a "CSI" event July 19 from 6:30-8 p.m. A South Brunswick police officer and forensics expert will walk attendees through a "real" crime scene and a discussion on the reality of forensics in police work vs. television's version. Afterward, participants will be invited to eat snacks with a "body parts" theme. The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

The Friends of the Library sponsors the creative writing group for individuals in grades six through 12 which meets the second Saturday of the month at 1 p.m. No registration required.
