Vikings thank contributors to bike effort

On June 3, the Viking Volunteers helped to collect and process 190 donated bicycles for shipment to the former Soviet republic of Georgia. This is the eighth collection held at South Brunswick High School (SBHS) since 1999, and 1,026 bikes and 17 sewing machines have been sent to countries from Ghana to Nicaragua. This year, a record $3,000 was donated to defray the shipping costs.

Thanks to all those who have been so generous over the years. Also, thank you for publicizing the collection. Many contributors referred to your article.

Information about future collections can be obtained on the Web site at www.p4p.org or by calling Larry Witlen at SBHS at (732) 329-4044, ext. 7102.
