There are more important problems than prostitution

It's comforting to know that the chief of police and Township Council in South Brunswick have come up with a solution to one of civilization's oldest problems ("Chief hopes to rub out illegitimate massage spas," June 7). Together, these brilliant public officials say they can banish prostitution from our township.

How will this be accomplished? By spending more taxpayer's money, of course. First, lawyers will be paid to draft an ordinance. Next, more undercover policemen will be hired to form sting squads. Then, prostitution will disappear. How wonderful!

After many millenniums, we will be rid of this plague on our community. If we could only establish a fee for this idea and export it, South Brunswick could even lower our excessive taxes.

When will our public officials begin to realize there are more important problems to deal with? Like spending less money, reducing bloated payrolls, trimming some fat from the budget, stop the spending of millions of dollars on unnecessary construction projects, and giving the taxpayers some relief.
