Vehicle flips in accident

NORTH BRUNSWICK - Two passengers were trapped in a vehicle that flipped over following an accident on Route 130 on May 23.

At approximately 11:10 a.m., Margaret Bodnar, 88, of Monroe, was driving her 2006 Nissan Sentra in the right lane of the highway in the area of Old Georges Road when she came in contact with a 2003 Saturn Vue.

The driver of the Vue, Joshua Germain, 31, and his mother, Pamela, both of North Brunswick, had to be extricated from their vehicle by the North Brunswick Fire Department and First Aid & Rescue Squad. They were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where Joshua was treated for very serious injuries to his head and shoulder areas and his mother for neck and back pain. Bodnar reported she was not injured.

Route 130 northbound traffic was detoured to Old Georges Road for approximately three hours, while southbound Route 130 had the left lane closed for the same period of time.

The collision is being investigated by Patrolman Thomas Vingara. Anyone with further information should call Vingara at (732) 247-0922, ext. 316.
