James Johnston, North Brunswick, P.E., has been elected president of Associated Soil and Foundation Engineers (ASFE)/The Best People on Earth, a nonprofit of "earth-engineering" firms. Johnston is executive vice president responsible for strategic and client management functions, and chairs the board of directors at PMK Group, headquartered in Cranford. ASFE develops programs, services, and materials its member firms use to enhance quality of business practices. Johnston joined PMK in 1986, after receiving a bachelor of science and master of science degree at Rutgers University, New Brunswick. He has designed and managed several projects involving the assessment and remediation of contaminated sites, as well as brownfields and landfill redevelopment.

PMK also has offices in Farmingdale and Marlton.

Taryn Bostjancic, Dayton section of South Brunswick, joined members of Generex Biotechnology Corporation in ringing the ceremonial NASDAQ stock market closing bell May 2 at 4 p.m. in New York City. Bostjancic, is a senior manager at WithumSmith&Brown, Certified Public Accountants and Consultants, has worked with the Toronto-based company as an auditor and consultant since 1998.

The New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners, (NJAWBO, will present "Celebrate Diversity in New Brunswick" June 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at George Street Playhouse, 9 Livingston Ave. Registration must be done by May 31, and cost is $15. The Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, will hold its 2007 Community Leaders of Distinction Awards dinner and annual installation of officers May 22 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, New Brunswick. Honorees are Dr. Joann LaPerla-Morales, Middlesex County College; Rev. Vincente Martinez, Suydam Street Reformed Church; Mark Bocchieri, Verizon; and Don Tretola, PSE&G. The Chris Kjeldsen Award for Leadership Excellence 2007 will be awarded to Magic 98.3 FM/WCTC 1450 AM, Greater Media New Jersey.

The auxiliary of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, will hold a fundraiser for its comprehensive breast center June 4 at 11 a.m. at The Palace at Somerset Park. "Tied to the Cause" will feature a champagne reception, lunch, speakers, a "pink apron" silent auction, and dance presentation by Dance for the Cure. The New Jersey State Bar Foundation will present a seminar on wills and estate planning June 5 from 7-9 p.m. at New Jersey Law Center, 1 Constitution Square, New Brunswick. Topics will include wills and trusts, gift and tax planning, probate procedures, living wills, and federal estate tax. Speakers are attorneys Brian Reynolds and John r. Greater Media Inc. has announced that general manager Dan Henrickson will accept the Chris Kjeldsen Award for Leadership Excellence on behalf of Magic 98.3 FM and WCTC 1450 AM from the Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The stations will be honored at the chamber's annual community leaders of distinction dinner May 22 at the Hyatt Regency, New Brunswick. The award recognizes the radio stations' support and service to the local community.

Magic 98.3 FM and WCTC 1450 AM are owned and operated by Greater Media New Jersey, a subsidiary of Greater Media Inc., parent company of 20 AM and FM radio stations in the Boston, Detroit, New Jersey and Philadelphia markets. It also owns a modern printing plant and a group of weekly newspapers in central New Jersey as well as several telecommunications towers nationwide.

Young Professionals, Forty and Under, a support group open to all young professionals and college graduates in Ocean, Monmouth and Middlesex counties, and a committee of the Lakewood Chamber, will hold its monthly meeting 6-8:30 p.m. May 23 at 507 Main Restaurant, 507 Main St., Belmar.

Andrew Politi, East Brunswick, national sales manager for National Service Bureau Inc., will speak about managing accounts receivable from the sale of a product or service to the collection of money due. His talk, "Getting Your Due - Managing Billing from Sales to Collection," will include when and how to bill, the difference between a past due account and a delinquent one, some laws governing collections, and how to manage a collection agency or law firm, among other topics.
