'Sleepless in South Brunswick' May 22

Chabad Jewish Center, 1 Riva Ave., North Brunswick, will present "Sleepless in South Brunswick" May 22 at 10:30 p.m.

The event is a Torah discovery seminar, and will detail Kabalistic teachings of the holiday of Shavuot. Study sessions will be conducted throughout the night by Rabbi Levi Azimov.

A children's shavout ice cream party will be May 23 at 6 p.m., following a reading of the Ten Commandments.

Philomusica Choir to perform May 19, 20

Philomusica Choir, East Brunswick, will present "Rising Stars of 1707: Early Masterpieces of Bach & Händel" May 19 at 8 p.m. and May 20 at 4 p.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, North Brunswick.

The choir will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra and soloists Nadine Robinson and Annette Mulholland, sopranos; Abigail Wright, alto; Jeremy Blossey, tenor; and Charles Schneider, bass. Local choir members are Jessica Florek, Colonia section of Woodbridge; Annette Mulholland, North Brunswick; Ken Kohler, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick; and Fran Nimeck, South Brunswick.

SUDZ meeting in South Brunswick May 23

The South Brunswick Stop Underage Drinking Zone (SUDZ) is urging all adults to keep youth safe during prom and graduation season, and will hold its next meeting May 23 at 7 p.m. Individuals concerned about underage drinking are encouraged to attend the meeting.

SUDZ is a partnership of community members and agencies with the mission of preventing alcohol use by individuals younger than age 21.

'Do I Still Need to Get a Mammogram?' May 31

South Brunswick Township will host "I'm Getting Older - Do I Still Need to Get a Mammogram?" May 31 from noon to 1 p.m. at the South Brunswick Municipal Building Complex Utilities Building, Meeting Room 1.

Presenter will be Karen Rust, R.N., manager and oncology outreach coordinator at Princeton HealthCare System.

Eligible participants will be able to schedule a free mammogram available through Princeton HealthCare. Light refreshments will be provided.

The American Cancer Society suggests the following guidelines to improve chances that breast cancer can be found at an early stage and treated successfully: have regular mammograms beginning at age 40, see a doctor for regular breast exams, and practice monthly breast self-exams.

N.B. Library to hold murder-mystery dinner

Tickets are now available for North Brunswick Library's murder-mystery dinner, "Aloha Means Good-bye: Forever" June 23 at 7 p.m.

The audience are extras at the Hawaiian filming of the new TV series "Aloha Blue," a play within a play. An individual dies in the pilot, as well as within the acting company. Attendees will act as detectives and figure out who did it. Tickets are $30 each.

'Spiritual Purpose

of Dreams' May 19

North Brunswick Public Library, 880 Hermann Road, will host "The Spiritual Purpose of Dreams" May 19 from 1-2 p.m.

The free presentation will explore the purpose of dreams, why individuals have dreams, what dreams mean, and how to use the messages in dreams to improve outer life. There will also be an exercise to help attendees enrich spiritual life. The program is presented by the Satsang Society of New Jersey Inc.

South Brunswick Library will offer a free one-hour seminar on how to start selling on eBay May 30 at 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The library is at 110 Kingston Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.

The North Brunswick Police Department, 710 Hermann Road, will host a ceremony May 17 at 4 p.m. in honor of National Police Week. The event is open to the public and will feature departmental and civilian award presentations. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved to the municipal court room.

The North Brunswick Township Heritage Day Committee will host "Taste of the Towns" May 18 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Peace Parish Center, Route 130. The event will feature food item samples from various local restaurants, and a cash bar with wine and beer. Prizes will be awarded for the best appetizer, entrée and dessert.
