Gregory Hirrschoff, North Brunswick, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Berklee College of Music, Boston. He is the son of Karen and Carl Hirrschoff.

Gabrielle Wierzbicki, Kendall Park section of South Brunswick, has been named to the dean's list in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance for the fall semester at Ithaca College (N.Y.), where she is freshman. A graduate of South Brunswick High School in 2006, she is enrolled in a six-year doctorate program in physical therapy. She is the daughter of John and Donna Wierzbicki.

The nonprofit National Merit Scholarship Corp., Evanston, Ill., has announced the first group of Merit Scholarship winners for 2007. Awards are financed by companies, foundations, and other business organizations, with annual stipends ranging from $500-$10,000. Scholars had to meet the criteria of the student's scholarship sponsors, have an outstanding academic record, be endorsed and recommended by a school official, and earn SAT scores that confirmed the student's qualifying test performance. Local students receiving awards are:

Pallavi Yerramilli, Kendall Park, a National Merit Telcordia Scholarship. A student at South Brunswick High School, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, Yerramilli's probable career field is biomedical engineering; and

Jigar J. Shah, North Brunswick, a National Merit Dow Chemical Company Scholarship. A student at North Brunswick Township High School, Shah's probable career field is electrical engineering.

Brianne Mastandino, Dayton section of South Brunswick, has been awarded a Merit Scholarship from Berkeley College, Woodbridge. The scholarships were awarded based upon academic achievement in high school. Mastandino is a student at South Brunswick High School, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.

Robert Rittenhouse, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Va.

Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, announced the following local students inducted into Phi Zeta Kappa Junior Honor Society:

Daniel Quigley;

Maria Arhontoulis; and

Nilay Patel, all of the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick.

The University of Delaware, Newark, announced the following local students named to the dean's list for the fall semester:

Joseph C. Peragallo of North Brunswick, a sophomore;

Mark Mangual of Kendall Park, a junior;

Joseph E. Randall of Kendall Park, a sophomore;

Laura M. Chirico of the Dayton section of South Brunswick, a sophomore;

Brian J. Del Guercio of Dayton, a freshman;

Angela L. Velez of Dayton, a senior;

Kristen A. Araujo of Monmouth Junction, a junior;
