N.B. Library continues birthday celebration

The North Brunswick Library, 880 Hermann Road, is celebrating its 40th birthday by holding a drive for the township food bank with a goal of collecting 40 each of various food items.

The items are: soups, tuna or other canned meats, canned vegetables, canned fruit, cake mixes, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, pasta, pasta sauces, and cereals (no glass jars, please).

The library is also holding a birthday card design contest, with entry deadline May 31. Ribbons will be awarded in the category of preschool, grades one through three, four through six, seven through 12, and adults. Cards will be displayed during June and ribbons will be awarded at a birthday celebration June 10. The library will supply materials for children age 5 and older at a program May 24 at 4 p.m. Registration is required.

The library is marching in the 52nd annual Memorial Day parade May 28 and is looking for individuals to march. A free T-shirt will be provided. Assembly starts at 11 a.m., and the parade at noon. Financial adviser David Wray will present a program on educational savings plans May 31 at 7 p.m. Registration is requested as seating is limited.
