Business Briefs The New Jersey State Bar Foundation will hold the public conference, "Strategies for Protecting Older Citizens" May 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at New Jersey Law Center, 1 Constitution Square, New Brunswick. The free conference is in recognition of Senior Citizens' Law Day. A complimentary continental breakfast will be available. Topics to be discussed by attorneys at the conference include how to protect against identity theft, Medicare, wills and trusts. The Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce, Mercer County Workforce Investment Board, and The Office of Economic Opportunity will hold a job fair April 30 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Frist Center on the Princeton University campus (the event was rescheduled from April 16). Assemblyman Bill Baroni (R-Mercer/Middlesex) has been named as recipient of the New Jersey Conference of Mayors (NJCM) Annual Legislator's Award, which he will receive at the 44th annual conference in Atlantic City. Baroni was selected for support of legislation important to NJCM, and his record of leadership on behalf of New Jersey residents.
The New Jersey Society of Professional Journalists will present the seminar, "The N.J. Open Public Records Act: A User's Manual" May 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event open to all journalists will be at South Brunswick Public Library, 110 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick. Speakers include Walter Kane of News 12 New Jersey, and Geoff Mulvihill of the Associated Press South Jersey Bureau. Cost is $5 for lunch, which is provided, and reservations are required by May 5. The North Brunswick Humane Association is seeking a sponsor to purchase a message board for the Community Park dog park on Route 130. The board would be used to provide timely and vital information regarding wildlife, pet ownership and safety and other animal-related information. Sponsor's names will be permanently displayed on a plaque on the board. The cost is $550. The Association is also seeking new members, with meetings held the second Tuesday of each month from 7:30-9 p.m. in the lower level conference room at the municipal building at 710 Hermann Road.
East Brunswick Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold the third annual wellness and fitness expo May 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Brunswick Square Mall, Route 18 and Rues Lane, East Brunswick.
