Trips, events offered by S.B. Senior Center South Brunswick Senior Center, Route 522, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, will offer free trips for seniors beginning May 2 with a trip to East Brunswick Mall. A trip to Target, Kohl's & Wegmans will be May 9; a trip to Delicious Orchards, followed by lunch will be May 23; and a trip to Hometown Buffet/Farm Market & Entenmanns May 30. All trips depart at 10:30 a.m. The Department of Health and Human Services will present a veteran's forum on health and human services May 3 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. The welcome will be given by Freeholder Blanquita B. Valenti and Mayor Frank Gambatese. Presentations will be given by Col. Stephen Able, Ret., Deputy Commissioner for Veterans Affairs; Joseph Battito, Veterans Service Officer; and others. A panel discussion of services and questions will be at 2:30 p.m. The senior center will be open weekends May 5 and 19 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., and Sundays from 1-4 p.m. (closed May 13 and 27). The outdoor game facility featuring a bocce court, shuffleboard and horseshoe pit is now open, and equipment is available. South Brunswick Senior Club will sponsor a trip to the Michigan flower show May 7-12. Cost is $575 for bus transportation, accommodations and food. A trip to see Louie Prima at Resorts Hotel, Atlantic City, will be May 15 departing at 9 a.m. Cost is $50 with $24 back and $8 toward food. Casino and Game Day with a barbecue will be May 10 from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The event will feature bingo, a barbecue, poker, black jack, a money wheel, and golf putting. Attendees will be given play money which can be traded for chances to win various prizes. The event is sponsored by funds raised by the quilting club through Friends of the Senior Center. Cost is $2.25 for lunch, and registration is necessary. South Brunswick Office on Aging is sponsoring a trip to Grounds for Sculpture, Hamilton, May 16 at 9 a.m. The trip departs Woodlot Park. Price is $10 for transportation and docent tour. Registration opens May 1. The trip is for South Brunswick residents age 55 and older only. The 14th annual international fashion show will be May 17 at 12:30 p.m. and feature fashions from various countries. Attendees are welcome to wear outfits or costumes from a foreign country, or sign up to be a model with Susan. Reservations are required. Girl Scout Troop 1737 is working toward its Bronze Award, and will present a 50s luncheon and dance May 19 from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The event will include lunch, a dance contest, costume contest, door prizes, and dancing to music of the 50s. The menu will be hamburgers, hotdogs, french fries, macaroni salad and jello molds. Veggie hamburgers and hotdogs will also be available. Tickets are required, and registration is now open. Senior Fitness Week will be May 21-26, and the center will offer activities such as aerobics, pilates, yoga, tai chi, and billiards. There will also be a Greek dance demonstration and lesson May 22 at 1:30 p.m., and outdoor game day May 24 at noon with shuffleboard, bocce horseshoes, refreshments, music and prizes. An information seminar on wills and estates will be given by Kevin J. Hoagland, Surrogate of Middlesex County Court, and attorney George Bolster May 31 at 12:30 p.m. The works of Vimala Gade will be exhibited at the center through the end of June. There will also be a "Meet and Greet" May 12 at 12:30 p.m. Gade uses oils, acrylics, water colors, pastels, pencils and fabric paint on silk with subjects ranging from still life, portraits, landscapes and wildlife. The Office on Aging will hold a distribution of New Jersey farm market vouchers June 6 from 10 a.m.-noon. The program is designed to provide low-income seniors aged 60 and older with fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables. Qualifying households will receive $20 in vouchers to use at a participating farm market. Precertification is required. To register, call (732) 329-4000, ext. 7676.
