Police seek bank robber

NORTH BRUNSWICK - A robbery at the Bank of America on Milltown Road on March 29 is not connected to the string of robberies that have occurred locally since September, police said.

Around 4:25 p.m., a man passed a handwritten note to a bank teller demanding money, police said. The teller handed over an undetermined amount of cash and then the suspect fled with both the money and the note through the rear of the bank, according to police. Police arrived at the scene but were unable to locate the suspect. The man is described as a white male, 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, wearing a gray sweatshirt with the hood up, blue jeans and a black jacket. There was no indication of a weapon, police said, and none of the patrons in the bank at the time were injured.

In the past few months, Bank of America branches in East Brunswick and South Brunswick have been robbed by a group of men carrying guns, among other banks located in Middlesex, Union, Essex and Morris counties.

"We do not believe this is connected with the other bank robberies in Middlesex County," said Police Lt. Roger Reinson.
