Copter transports burn victim

NORTH BRUNSWICK - A superintendent for the Stratford Arms Apartments complex on Livingston Avenue received burns to his upper body and chest as he was working on a boiler Feb. 5.

According to police, at 12:27 p.m. the North Brunswick First Aid and Rescue Squad and Police Department responded to a call, and by 1:17 p.m. the helicopter had taken off to transport the victim to the Saint Barnabas Medical Center burn unit in Livingston. The victim was driven by an ambulance to a helicopter landing site at the Fidelity Plaza baseball field at the intersection of routes 1 and 130, and was transported by a North Star State Police helicopter.

Code Enforcement is looking into the investigation. Early reports show that there was no heat in the building for three days and the super was trying to correct the problem.

There is no further information at this time.
