Police investigate attack on Society Hill resident

NORTH BRUNSWICK - A resident of the Society Hill housing complex off Route 1 was attacked by three men possibly possessing a gun on Jan. 4 around 10:30 p.m.

According to police, as the man exited his vehicle on Pennsylvania Way he was approached by the suspects who were exiting a black sedan. The men, described as three black males about 6 feet tall wearing all black, including dark hooded sweatshirts, crossed the street, tackled the victim to the ground and demanded money.

As the attack ensued, one of the victim's relatives was alerted to the incident and screamed. The suspects then fled the scene. The appearance of a gun has not yet been confirmed.

The North Brunswick Police Department is actively investigating the incident. As a preventative measure, patrols and plainclothes officers have been increased in the area. Also, the township Youth Council and Junior Police Academy members went door to door handing out notification fliers to all residents on Saturday.

Anyone with information or concerns should contact Detective William Lynch at (732) 247-0922 ext. 359.
