            Middlesex County Division of Solid Waste Management in conjunction with the Rutgers Cooperative Research & Extension Service will present free workshops for residents beginning with a vermi-composting workshop April 12 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

      Italian American Social Club names officers
            The Italian American Social Club of North Brunswick has elected its officers for 2007, with Vito Puleio elected as president, and Mary Caramela, president of the Ladies' Auxiliary. The installation was conducted by the Rev. Robert Santa Barbara of St. Mary of Mount Virgin Church, New Brunswick.

      Applications now taken for 'Passport2College'
            DeVry University, North Brunswick, will offer a "Passport2College Program" July 16-Aug. 17, with deadline to apply May 18. The program offers college level courses at no cost to students entering junior or senior year of high school in the fall of 2008 or 2009. Students may select one of three courses taught by DeVry professors and worth three transferable credits.

      Volunteers sought for S.B. cleanups in April
            South Brunswick Township is seeking individuals, families and groups to clean up a littered area within the township during April in celebration of Earth Day April 22. The township will provide bags and gloves for volunteers. Volunteers are encouraged to seek an area frequently traveled so the volunteer will be rewarded daily with a clean ride around that area.

            South Brunswick High School Project Graduation is now offering vendor spaces for the second annual community flea market and yard sale. The event will be May 12 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the high school at 750 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick (rain or shine).

            Eileen Courtney, Somerset, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 9111, South Brunswick, was honored during the national mid-year conference of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States held in late March in San Francisco.

      South Brunswick Lions tricky tray March 30
            The South Brunswick Lions Club will sponsor a tricky tray March 30 at South Brunswick High School, 750 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick. Doors open at 6 p.m., and drawings begin at 8 p.m. Admission is $7, and no individual younger than age 18 will be admitted. Proceeds benefit the Lions' sight, hearing and community activities.
