Cabby robbed at knifepoint

NORTH BRUNSWICK — A livery cab driver was reportedly robbed by three Hispanic males near Clay Street on Dec. 14.

According to police reports, the male driver, 33, worked for All Brunswick Taxi and was sent to the Sunrise Deli on Livingston Avenue to pick up a fare.

A Hispanic male wearing a white jacket and a white rag on his head entered the front seat. Another Hispanic wearing a camouflaged jacket sat behind the driver. A third, white male with long blond curly hair and a dark jacket sat on the opposite side.

The three teenagers asked first to be dropped off at Regal Cinemas on Route 1 but then asked to go to the Governor’s Pointe development adjacent to the movie theater. As they approached Hartland Commons and Northam Drive South, the driver told police, the suspect sitting behind him attempted to grab him around the neck and showed a small knife, but the victim was able to exit the vehicle prior to being grabbed.

All three suspects fled the scene. A search of the area yielded negative results.

The case is being handled by the North Brunswick Detective Bureau.
