Obituaries Glenn J. VanPell Mr. VanPell, 85, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died March 10 in Briarwood Care Center, South Amboy. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Grand Union, North Brunswick, where he worked for 30 years. His wife, Margaret Saunders VanPell, died in 2003. Surviving are two sons, Glenn and Gerard, both of Parlin; a daughter, Dorothy Schaefer of Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sayreville First Aid Squad. Jerry A. Abes Mr. Abes, 73, of South River, died March 12 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to his retirement, he was a cable technician with Okonite Cable, North Brunswick, where he worked for 30 years. Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Rakita Abes; two daughters, Donna Campoli of North Brunswick and Marie Shalayda of Old Bridge; a sister, Judy Glass of Indianapolis; and three grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Services were held at Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick. Doris J. Meyers Ms. Meyers, 74, of New Brunswick, died March 18 in Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to her retirement in 1991, she was employed as a line operator at E.R. Squibb and Sons, North Brunswick, where she worked for more than 25 years. Surviving are a sister, Claire Williams of South River; a niece, Deborah Strincoski of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick; and a great-nephew and a great-niece, Paul Strincoski Jr. and Jessica Strincoski, both of Monmouth Junction. Services were held at Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River. Raymond Conger Jr. Mr. Conger, 81, of Milltown, died March 18 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to his retirement in 1989, he was employed as an office manager at Maul Electrical Contractors, Dayton section of South Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Garretson Conger; two sons, Gary R. Conger and Jeffrey A. Conger, both of Milltown; a daughter, Judy M. Hickey of Pelham, Ga.; and four grandchildren. Services were held at Bronson and Guthlein Funeral Home, Milltown. Interment was in Van Liew Cemetery, New Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 62 S.
