Frank J. Bochynsky

Mr. Bochynsky, 76, of Highland Park, died Jan. 28 at home. Born in North Brunswick, he resided in New Brunswick, prior to moving to Highland in 1966. He was a retired supervisor at New Jersey Manufacturer’s Insurance Company, Morristown, where he was employed 20 years. He was a member of the National Republican Club, and National Rifle Association. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Talluto Bochynsky in 2001. He is survived by two daughters, Helen Chiamulera of the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick, and Barbara Smith of Egg Harbor; and a grandson. Arrangements were by Selover Funeral Home, North Brunswick.

Carmella M. Tavalare Fabian

Mrs. Fabian, 68, of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, died Jan. 26 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, following a lengthy illness. Born in New Brunswick, she resided in North Brunswick, prior to moving to Monmouth Junction 20 years ago. She was a medical transcriptionist at the offices of Drs. Matthew Menken and Roger Behar, Somerset. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of North Brunswick Fire Company No. 3. She is survived by a daughter, Maria Elena Fabian of Monmouth Junction; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Richard and Dawn Fabian of North Brunswick, and Joseph Fabian of Monmouth Junction; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Carol Tavalare, and Anthony and Peg Tavalare, all of North Brunswick; a sister, Dolores Visconti of North Brunswick; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, New Brunswick. Arrangements were by Selover Funeral Home, North Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, 19 School House Road, Somerset 08873.

Jill Lajeskie

Mrs. Lajeskie, 58, of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, died Feb. 3 at Care One of East Brunswick. Born in Upper Nyack, N.Y., she resided there prior to moving to Monmouth Junction 26 years ago. She was a teacher with the East Brunswick Board of Education the past 35 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy and Frederick Bracey. She is survived by a daughter, Cassandra Lajeskie of Monmouth Junction; and a sister, Pamela Garrett of Sacramento, Calif. A memorial celebration will be Feb. 11 from 1-5 p.m. at Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh, Old Bridge. Arrangements are by M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, Monmouth Junction. John R. Ambrosino

Mr. Ambrosino, 79, of North Brunswick, died Jan. 27 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided on Long Island, N.Y., prior to moving to North Brunswick 20 years ago. He was a sanitation worker for the City of New York, retiring 28 years ago. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, North Brunswick. He is survived by his wife, Ann Caladrino Ambrosino; tow daughters, Grace Kist of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Patricia O’Neil of Middletown; a son, John Ambrosino of Pittstown; two brothers, Michael Ambrosino of Chester, N.Y., and Anthony Ambrosino of Cape Coral, Fla.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Church. Entombment was at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Arrangements were by Selover Funeral Home, North Brunswick.

John A. Bittay

Mr. Bittay, 80, of East Brunswick, died Jan. 29 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Catherine Calantoni Bittay; a son, John Bittay of San Jose, Calif.; four daughters, Diane Filep of Peoria, Ariz., Cathy Torok of East Brunswick, Cyndi Taylor of Spotswood and Joanne Mezger of Point Pleasant; a brother, Ted Bittay of Tempe, Ariz.; a sister, Elma Bittay of South Brunswick; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick. Alexander Alai

Mr. Alai, 94, of Highland Park, died Jan. 31 at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Vilnius, Poland, he came to the United States in 1915 and had lived in Scranton, Pa., and Newark before moving to Highland Park in 1961. While residing in Newark, he served as an air raid warden, a volunteer whose job was to help the fire and police departments get medical assistance if their area was bombed. Prior to retiring in 1972, he was a pipe fitter at Western Electric, Kearny, for 36 years. He had previously worked as a coal miner for Hudson Coal Co. in Pennsylvania. Mr. Alai was a communicant of and lay leader at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, Edison. He was also senior champion at Tamarack Golf Course, East Brunswick, for six years. Mr. Alai was predeceased in 1999 by his wife, Mary Ann. Surviving are two sons, John of California and Edward of North Brunswick; three daughters, Betty Giardino of Edison, Rosemarie Stelzle-Dill of Piscataway and Susan Sinibaldi of Milltown; a sister, Helen Dubrosky of Garwood; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, Milltown, followed by a funeral liturgy at St. Theresa’s Church. Interment took place at Lake Nelson Memorial Park, Piscataway. Memorial donations may be made to the Highland Park First Aid Squad, 128 S. 11th Ave., Highland Park 08904.

Rose Fabyian Orsag

Mrs. Orsag, 91, of South River, died Jan. 26 in Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Steve Orsag, died in 1984. Surviving are a daughter, Rose McAtee of Bradley Beach; a sister, Helen Grygo of South River; a brother, John Fabyian of North Brunswick; two granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Stephen Protomartyr Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.

Garrett W. Voorhees Jr.

Mr. Voorhees, 81, of Monroe, formerly of Edison, died Jan. 22 in Cranbury Center, Monroe. Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was a lieutenant with the Edison Township Police Department, where he worked for 25 years. Surviving are his wife, Agnes Ledford Voorhees; a son, Garrett W. Voorhees III of South Brunswick; a brother, Merrill Voorhees of Florida; two sisters, Lucille Gestl of Williston Park, N.Y., and Theresa Reese of Wyandanch, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services are planned for 10 a.m. on Jan. 26 at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation, 1501 N.W. Ninth Ave., Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136.

Florence Maciorowski Kotarski

Mrs. Kotarski, 82, of Montgomery, Ala., formerly of Sayreville, died Jan. 12 at home. Her first husband, Felix D. Kozekowski, died in 1945; her second husband, Paul P. Kotarski, died in 1989; a son, Felix D. Kozekowski Jr., died in 1993; and a daughter-in-law, Eileen Kotarski, died in 2005. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann Forsyth of Montgomery; two sons, Paul Kotarski of the Morgan section of Sayreville and Edward Kotarski of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick; a brother, Frank Maciorowski of Columbia, Md.; and eight grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville. Interment was in the church cemetery.
