On Campus The South Brunswick High School (SBHS) chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) recently attended the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla., marking the first time SBHS students have taken part in the event. Recent graduate Prasad Tare took fifth place in the banking and financial systems competition, and 14 other students also took part in the conference.
Neha Deshpande, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, will represent New Jersey at the 50th anniversary March of Dimes National Youth Conference “Saving Babies, Building Leaders,” to be held in Washington, D.C., in late summer. She was one of 10 teens selected to represent the state. Deshpande serves as secretary of the March of Dimes Mercer County Chain Reaction Youth Council which she joined four years ago. She is also the founder of the Middlesex County March of Dimes Chain Reaction Youth Council. Deshpande will be a junior at South Brunswick High School this fall.
Todd Gilbert, North Brunswick, recently received a bachelor of science degree information management and technology at the spring commencement exercises at The School of Information Studies at Syracuse (N.Y.) University.
The Chubb Institute, North Brunswick Campus, announce the following local students who received degrees at the July 21 commencement exercises: Rajeshwari Kailasanathan of the Dayton section of South Brunswick; Lisa Seroka of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick; Jennifer DePaola and Mary Owens, both of the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick; and Roseann DeFrancesco, Tina Fama, Tynia Hennix, Nicholas Rodriguez, Sean O’Dea, Maryanne Sirmans, Lola Vickers and Andrew Walz, all of North Brunswick.
Eric Eberle Wertz, South Brunswick, was recently named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Pennsylvania State University, University Park, where he is majoring in meteorology. He is also a member of the school’s student council, and involved in reporting the weather at its radio station. A 2004 graduate of South Brunswick High School, he is the son of Barbara and Dennis Wertz.
Richard Morgan, Little Silver, was recently named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the School of Architecture at Syracuse (N.Y.) University, where he is a junior majoring in architecture.
Bethany Sole, Atlantic Highlands, a graduate of Red Bank Regional High School, Little Silver, was recently named to the dean’s list at Albright College, Reading, Pa. She is a sophomore majoring in alpha/elementary education.
Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster, Pa., announced the following local students named to the dean’s list for the spring semester:
Sara Alicia Moser-Cohen, Red Bank, a junior majoring in both government and sociology. A 2002 graduate of the Marine Academy of Science and Technology, Sandy Hook, she is the daughter of Philip Cohen and Geri Moser-Cohen; and Thomas Andrew Rigby of Shrewsbury, son of Terrie and Joe Rigby, and a 2004 graduate of Red Bank Regional High School, Little Silver.
Shweta Desai, Kendall Park section of South Brunswick, recently received a 2005-06 New Jersey Sanitary Supply Association Award from the International Sanitary Supply Association Inc. A graduate of South Brunswick High School, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, she was a member of the Key Club, and varsity and junior varsity cheerleading squads. Desai will pursue a degree in business at Rutgers University, New Brunswick.
Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, announced the following local students named to the dean’s list for the spring semester:
Daniel Quigley of the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick; and Denise Thompson of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.
Named to the honors list with a GPA of 3.5 or better were:
Maria Arhontoulis and Nilay Patel, both of Kendall Park.
