Obituaries Trieste Rao Mrs. Rao, 90, of North Brunswick, died July 7 at home. Born in Philadelphia, she resided in Atlantic City prior to moving to North Brunswick 50 years ago. She was a music teacher in the North Brunswick Township school system for more than 40 years, retiring in the early 1980s. She was also a private music teacher. She was a communicant of, and organist and choir director at St. Mary of Mount Virgin Roman Catholic Church, New Brunswick. She was instrumental in founding the Italian Cultural Society, North Brunswick, and North Brunswick Italian American Club. She was also instrumental in implementing the teaching of Italian at North Brunswick Township High School. She was predeceased by her husband, Pasquale Rao in 2001. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church. Burial was at Saint Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick. Arrangements were by Selover Funeral Home, North Brunswick.
Beate F. Perkuhn Mrs. Perkuhn, 64, of East Brunswick, formerly of Spotswood, died July 10 at home. She was employed for the past 25 years as a school bus driver for children with special needs in South Brunswick. She also worked as a transportation coordinator in North Brunswick. Surviving are her husband, Ernst Perkuhn; two sons, Peter of West Windsor and Udo of Edison; and a sister, Edith Koerner of Union. A memorial Mass was offered at Our Lady of Peace Church, North Brunswick.
George W. Schultz Mr. Schultz, 76, of East Brunswick, died July 13 at home. Prior to his retirement, he was employed in shipping at Conlux Coating and Paint Co., Edison. Surviving are his wife, Sophie Milek Schultz; six children, Joyce York of Brick, Donna Moore of South River, Mark Schultz of Oceanside, Calif., Darlene Schultz of Milltown, Shawn Schultz of Fallbrook, Calif., and Duane Schultz of East Brunswick; a brother, Bob of Beach Haven West; three sisters, Susan Jones of North Brunswick, Joan Tingle of Highland Park and Annette Berrue of Edison; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Cremation was private.
George Zupeck Mr. Zupeck, 91, of East Brunswick, died July 3 in St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton. His wife, Catherine Field Zupeck, died in 1995. Surviving are a daughter, Maryanne Zupeck of North Brunswick; two sons, George C. Zupeck and William F. Zupeck, both of East Brunswick; a sister, Anne McDowell of Wyoming, Pa.; and two grandchildren. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick. Lawrence F. Strugala Mr. Strugala, 84, of Sayreville, died July 10 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to his retirement in 1983, he was employed as a lab technician with Hercules Inc., Parlin section of Sayreville, where he worked for 30 years. Surviving are his wife, Josephine Dombrowski Strugala; two daughters, Patricia O’Such of the Seaville section of Upper Township and JoAnn Strugala of the Dayton section of South Brunswick; two sons, Richard Strugala of the Kingston section of South Brunswick and Gerard Strugala of Jackson; a brother, Louis Strugala of Sayreville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services are planned for 11 a.m. on July 14 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Thomas M. Wyse Mr. Wyse, 72, of Old Bridge, died July 3 in Reformed Church Home, Old Bridge. Prior to his retirement in 1992, he was employed as a materials handler with General Motors, North Brunswick, where he worked for 42 years. A daughter, Patricia McDevitt, died in 1994. Surviving are his wife, Lois Short Wyse; a son, Thomas Wyse of New York City; two daughters, Dianne Mataya of Helmetta and Sharon Jurewicz of Kutztown, Pa.; and eight grandchildren. Services were held at Simpson United Methodist Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick. Eleanor A. Schleuter Mrs. Schleuter, 76, of Old Bridge, died July 11 at home. She was a former teacher’s aide at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Old Bridge. Surviving are her husband, Bernard; two sons, Robert of Howell and James of North Brunswick; three daughters, Cathy Capozzi of Middletown, Ginger Roman of Cream Ridge and Susan Donnelly of East Brunswick; two sisters, Theresa Simunek of Cortlandt Manor, N.Y., and Barbara Conboy of Hicksville, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank, NJ 07701.
