Business Briefs Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital’s thoracic center will present a program about lung cancer prevention, risk factors, diagnosis, surgical options and smoking cessation June 18 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the hospital’s auditorium. The Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce business after hours committee will hold a networking event June 23 at 5:30 p.m. at LA Fitness, 536 Milltown Road, North Brunswick. The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) recently named Michael Wiley, of Hightstown, as innovation zone project officer to manage the three technology neighborhoods that have been created in Camden, New and North Brunswick, and Newark. Wiley will oversee the program that has been designed to spur collaboration among the state’s research universities, medical research facilities and technology businesses to encourage rapid transfer of discoveries from the laboratory to the marketplace.
QualCare Inc., Piscataway, has announced Dorothy Quail, M.D., has joined its staff as medical director to serve alongside medical director Bruce Fisher, M.D. Quail will be involved with the company’s utilization and workers’ compensation medical management, and be responsible for development and expansion of its disease management program. She received her doctor of medicine degree at Rutgers Medical School, New Brunswick, and master’s of public health degree at UMDNJ School of Public Health, Newark.
The law firm of Lynch Martin, North Brunswick and Shrewsbury, has announced partner James D. Martin has been named a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. The college strives to improve standards of trial practice, administration of justice, and ethics of trial professionals. The Grape Escape, 12 Stults Road, Dayton section of South Brunswick, will hold an open house June 24, and Aug 4, 18 and 25 from 6-8 p.m. The Grape Escape is the only winemaking school in Middlesex County, offering classes to beginner, intermediate and advanced winemakers. The experience takes four sessions during a 10-month period. Winemakers will learn to crush grapes, press must, barrel the juice, and bottle wine.
