Nancy Giovenco Mauriello

Mrs. Mauriello, 83, of Brick, died April 20 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Born in Kearny, she had resided in the Morgan section of Sayreville for 36 years before moving to Brick two years ago. Mrs. Mauriello was predeceased in December 2003 by her husband, Louis N. Mauriello. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara Mauriello of Brick, and Rosemarie and Tom Pollando of Sayreville; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Kathleen Mauriello of North Brunswick; a sister, Anita Bressen of Toms River; three brothers, Richard Giovenco of Caldwell, Rudy Giovenco of Howell and George Giovenco of Sayreville; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Funeral services were held at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin section of Sayreville, followed by a Mass at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, South Amboy. Burial took place at Christ Church Cemetery, also South Amboy.

Maria Teresa Gilpin

Mrs. Gilpin, 48, of Manalapan, died April 21 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Bogotá, Colombia, she resided in Manalapan the past 25 years. She was a teller at Sovereign Bank, Manalapan, the past two years. Prior to that, she was an inventory planner at Siemen’s Medical Systems, Monroe Township. She was a communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan. She is survived by her husband, John; two sons, Shawn and Jordan, both at home; her mother, Maria Teresa Rodriguez of Hazlet; three brothers, Wilson Contreras of North Brunswick, Oscar Contreras of Sayreville, and William Contreras of Old Bridge; three sisters, Elsa Rodriguez of South River, Lucy Contreras of Sayreville, and Jacquelyn Contreras or Colombia. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Thomas More Church. Arrangements were by Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan.

Vincent J. Buttitta

Mr. Buttitta, 67, of the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick, died April 5 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in New Brunswick, he resided there prior to moving to Kendall Park 34 years ago. He was a meter technician at Public Service Electric & Gas Company, Bound Brook, for 34 years, retiring in 1999. He served with the U.S. Army during the 1960s. He was a communicant of St. Mary of Mount Virgin Roman Catholic Church, New Brunswick. He was a member of IBEW Union Local 1134, New Brunswick. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Buttitta in 1999. He is survived by his wife, Joan; two daughters, Rosalie Berardo of North Brunswick, and Louise Shennard of Robbinsville; a son, Mariano Buttitta of South Brunswick; and five grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church. Arrangements were by Selover Funeral Home, North Brunswick.

Frank Nicastro

Mr. Nicastro, 74, of Spotswood, died April 18 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Born in Hoboken, he had been a resident of Spotswood since 1958. Mr. Nicastro was a truck driver for Cooper-Jarrett Trucking before his retirement, and later was a bus driver for the Spotswood Senior Citizens. He was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church, Helmetta. He was chairman of the Spotswood Recreation Department for several years and was active in Spotswood Little League. He also was a high school football official. Mr. Nicastro is survived by his wife, Marie Moramarco Nicastro; two sons and daughters-in-law, Philip and Sandra Nicastro of Toms River, and Robert and Doreen Nicastro of South Brunswick; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Joseph De Mato of North Brunswick; a sister, Lorraine Sutera of Spotswood; and eight grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 21 at at Holy Trinity Church, followed by burial at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. The Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick, was in charge of arrangements.

Anthony J. “Perdue” Perri Jr.

Mr. Perri, 49, of Long Branch, died April 18 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, he was a lifelong resident. He was a machine operator at the local establishments Coast, Fiore, and E & L paving companies. He was predeceased by his father, Anthony Perri Sr. in 2002. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Deborah Chavez Perri; a son, Anthony “A.J.” Perri III of Long Branch; his mother, Mary Perri of Eatontown; and a sister, Diane Kraatz of Newark, Del. Services were held April 21 at Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch.

Ruth Bellante

Mrs. Bellante, 88, of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, died April 7 at her daughter’s Monmouth Junction residence. Born in Sayreville, she resided in New Brunswick prior to moving to North Brunswick in 1991, and to her daughter’s house two years ago. She was a secretary at New Brunswick Police Department for 15 years, retiring in 1982. Prior to that, she worked at Arnold Constable Department Store, New Brunswick. She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, New Brunswick. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael S. Bellante in 1998. She is survived by a daughter, South Brunswick Deputy Mayor Carol Barrett of Monmouth Junction; a son, Michael Bellante of Reading, Pa.; a sister, Marie Schafer of Margaretville, N.Y.; a brother, Joseph Long of Somerset; and three grandchildren. Entombment was at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick. Arrangements were by The Crabiel Home for Funerals, Milltown.
