Residents urged to vote no on proposal April 19

My wife and I moved into South Brunswick in March 2002, and in that time the taxes have skyrocketed. After reading your “Opinion — A tough sell ahead” article, I realized it failed to mention the likely revaluation that will take place in the near future and felt it was time for me to speak up.

Assuming the current values are estimated to be at only 65 percent of their market value, then my house is currently valued at $142,800, and will be valued at $219,692. That alone will raise my taxes to $7,050 and that isn’t including these proposed municipal tax and school budget increases. If you include that, it will be roughly $7,580.

How can any average resident expect to easily handle a $3,000 increase in just taxes? That’s a 66-percent increase. I plead with those fiscally responsible to do something about this. I also plead with residents to vote no on April 19.
