Marlboro Players is still looking to fill some roles in its April production of “Evita.” Specifically needed are children ages 8-13, strong singers, for the children’s ensemble. Also needed are men ages 18-50, strong singers, for featured ensemble. Also seeking an understudy for Evita, with one guaranteed performance — age 20-30, strong “belter” with E, preferably under 5 foot 6. For the auditions, prepare 16 bars. Garden State Philharmonic Chorus will hold open rehearsals Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Toms River Intermediate East Band Room, 1519 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Auditions will follow attendance at an open rehearsal and involve short vocal exercises to assess vocal quality, range and sight-reading ability. The chorus’ season will include two special concerts, “Songs of Life and Love,’ featuring Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana,” Johannes Brahms’ “Liebeslieder Waltzer” (Love Waltzes), and “Cocktails With Cole Porter,” a cabaret-style concert. Monmouth Civic Chorus will hold auditions for experienced singers through June on Tuesday evenings by appointment only. Auditions and chorus rehearsals are held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 65 W. Front St., Red Bank. The chorus, directed by Mark Shapiro, will perform Brahms’ “Alto Rhapsody” with guest star Barbara Dever from the Metropolitan Opera at the Count Basie Theatre, Red Bank, on April 3, and Baroque music by Bliss, Handel and Purcell on June 11 at the First Presbyterian Church, Red Bank. McDonald’s will hold auditions for its “Gospelfest 2005” at local McDonald’s restaurants throughout the tristate area. There will be auditions for soloists, poets, rappers, comedians and singing groups of two to eight people. A separate audition for praise dancers, steppers and choirs of nine or more people was held Jan. 29 at Madison Square Garden Expo Center in New York City, but applicants can still enter by sending a three-minute video or audio audition tape to McDonald’s Gospelfest 2005, 50 Park Place, Suite 1219, Newark 07102 by Feb. 26. In New Jersey, auditions for soloists, poets, rappers, comedians and singing groups of two to eight people will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at two McDonald’s restaurants: Feb. 12 in Paterson at 265 Crooks Ave.; and Feb. 19 in Long Branch at 229 Broadway. Those who are unable to attend can submit a three-minute video or audio tape to the Newark address noted above. Semifinalists will compete at The Theatre at Madison Square Garden, June 3-5. Brookdale Community College Performing Arts Center will hold auditions for its April production of “Man of LaMancha.” All audition times must be scheduled in advance. Available time slots are: Feb. 10 from 6-10 p.m., Feb. 13 from 3-7 p.m., and Feb. 17 from 6-10 p.m., at the PAC, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft. Brookdale’s John Bukovec will direct the Dale Wasserman, Mitch Leigh and Joe Darion production, with musical direction by Joe Accurso. Auditions for the KidsVill world-premiere production of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” a comedic adaptation of the classic novel by Victor Hugo, are planned for 6 p.m. on Feb. 13 and 7 p.m. on Feb. 16 at Villagers Theatre, 415 Demott Lane, Somerset section of Franklin. Roles are open for 16-18 men and women, ages 16-60. All roles require comic timing and physical agility. Audition participants are asked to bring a headshot and résumé. Readings will be from the script. Producers also are seeking jugglers, acrobats, mimes and magicians for pre-show and post-show entertainment. Performance dates will be April 9-17.
