Police investigate attack on pizza delivery driver SOUTH BRUNSWICK — Police have arrested one individual for the attempted robbery of a South Brunswick pizza delivery man. Syed Rizvi, 18, of South Brunswick, was charged with robbery, theft and assault. Rizvi was one of several suspects who allegedly attacked a delivery man from Pizza Delizia on Ridge Road Tuesday afternoon. According to South Brunswick Detective James Ryan, the suspects called for pizza to be delivered to a residence on Quincy Circle. When the delivery man arrived at the home, no one answered the door. After attempting to call the residence from his cell phone, the man returned to his car when he noticed four males in a neighboring courtyard. Three of the males, according to Ryan, wore ski masks. The four men chased the delivery man back to his vehicle, according to Ryan. One suspect entered the passenger side, taking the pizza, Ryan said, while another suspect reached the driver’s side, and punched and kicked the victim. According to Ryan, the delivery man was able to escape in his car and no money was stolen. The victim then contacted his employer, who notified police. Ryan said the phone order aroused suspicion when the caller asked if the delivery man would have change for $100. According to Ryan, the would-be robbers likely wanted to make sure the delivery man had enough cash on him. Ryan said he expected the police department to make the three other arrests sometime Wednesday evening. According to Ryan, one of the other suspects is a 16 year-old, while the two other suspects are adults.
