Children get photo ID cards

South Brunswick Patrolman Pete Burdick measures Collin (on scale) and Darren Seavers, Kendall Park, during a Child Identification Day event in South Brunswick.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK — More than 265 children attended a Child ID Day event held at the senior center on Saturday.

The purpose of the event is to provide parents with a photograph, fingerprint, and basic information on the child, according to police.

The child’s information is placed on a card similar to a driver’s license that can readily be presented to a police officer in an emergency.

South Brunswick Police Chief Michael D. Paquette said, "It is critical in an emergency to have the child’s information readily available. This driver’s license-style card allows parents to always have the information, including height, weight and blood type, available."
