Community Bulletin Board Area veteran receives N.J. service medal New Jersey Distinguished Service Medals (DSM) were recently presented by Assemblyman Steve Corodemus to 174 state residents who are combat veterans of World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf War, and Kosovo. The medal, issued in 1858, was reauthorized by Gov. Thomas Kean in 1988. To be eligible, an individual must currently be a New Jersey resident, have been a resident at the time entering military service, have been honorably discharged, and have proof of having served in combat while on active duty during wartime. Steve J. Kibala, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, was the local recipient of the DSM. Kibala served with the U.S. Navy as a seaman 1st class during World War II. Individuals interested in applying for the New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal should send a written request together with copies of all pertinent information, discharge document (e.g., DD Form 214), award citation, honorable discharge, etc., to: NJDMAVA, Attn.: Distinguished Service Medal, P.O. Box 340, Trenton 08625-0340. Include full name, home address and daytime telephone number. Library to offer financial management workshops South Brunswick Public Library will host financial management workshops presented by Merrill Lynch during March and April. The library is at 110 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick. "Annuities and Estate Planning" will be held March 6, and "College Saving/Tax Planning" is scheduled for March 20. "Financial Planning/Retirement/401k Rollovers" will be presented April 3, and "Tax Planning/College Saving" will be discussed April 10. All programs are at 7:30 p.m. "Introduction to Panic and Anxiety Disorders" will be presented by Judy Schiffman of Panic Relief, North Brunswick, March 11 at 7:30 p.m. The sign language conversation club "Chat in Sign" will meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at the library. VFW Post No. 9111 dinner-dance March 16 Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post No. 9111, South Brunswick, and its women’s auxiliary, ,will host a St. Patrick’s dinner-dance March 16 at 8 p.m. The event will be at the post home at 11 Henderson Road, Kendall Park section of South Brunswick. Students and parents will have the opportunity to meet camp and office staff and choose the correct camp for the children’s needs. Day camp registration will also be taken at the event.
