Supporters of YMCA gala thanked

I would like to thank everyone who helped support the fourth annual South Brunswick Family YMCA gala dinner held at Pierre’s on April 30. With the help of so many people, we were able to exceed expectations and net more than $28,000 from the dinner, our ad book and the silent auction. The proceeds will continue to help build strong families, enrich our community and improve the South Brunswick Family YMCA. It will also help to continue to ensure any child who wishes to participate in a South Brunswick YMCA program but cannot afford it will receive a scholarship so he or she can do so.

Thanks as always to our host and hostess at Pierre’s, Pierre and Ramona, who went out of their way to help us. The South Brunswick YMCA staff also spent a great deal of time and effort supporting the event. We were fortunate to have three great honorees this year. Jeff Milanaik — president of Heller Industrial Park — proved once again he is a good corporate neighbor. Bob Southwick of Weichert Realtors has been tireless in support of our Y.

Without the Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad, the South Brunswick Family YMCA would not have been able to get started. By providing us with space for office staff prior to the completion of our Culver Road facility, we were able to begin to build our program and a strong membership base. Without these honorees, this event would not have been as successful as it was.

Finally, it is impossible to have a successful fund-raiser without a group of people who do the real work. Special thanks to executive director Tom LiBassi, our board president, Andre Gruber, and dinner committee members Pastor Ozzie Gonzalez, Joe Del Guercio, Rose Michie, and last — but certainly not least — Donna Andretta for her tireless work in coordinating the event. We are already looking forward to our fifth annual gala dinner.
