S. Brunswick Council
creates office on aging

The South Brunswick Township Council finalized an ordinance April 6 creating the South Brunswick Office on Aging. The office will operate the senior center and coordinate the senior transportation system, offering free transportation to the center, doctors, malls, food shopping and other errands.

The Office on Aging will act as an information and referral service for older adults and families in South Brunswick on issues such as health care, prescription drug plans, housing, local discounts and tax assistance. Additionally, it will serve as the Office of Veterans Affairs where veterans and families can receive information on benefits and services such as the Veterans Administration enrollment process, state and federal entitlements, transportation services, health care, housing and burial entitlements.

The office will be headed by Christine Wildemuth, who served as supervisor of the senior center the past five years.

The office will be located in the senior center, 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction. For details, call (723) 329-4000, ext. 670.
