Letters of support seem like ‘déjà vu all over again‘ It seems every campaign season the North Brunswick Republicans are so completely lacking in issues they resort to their annual ritual of running a misleading letters-to-the-editor campaign. Two weeks ago, Pete Maimone wrote a letter trying to give credit to the Republican mayoral candidate for starting the present debate over limiting the time political signs can be posted before and after an election, when he knows very well this idea was put forward by Councilman Bruce Chandlee. Now, Mary Salva — who always writes glowing letters about all of the Republican candidates — submits a letter not only giving the same misinformation but also inaccurately stating that there are no Democratic signs up because of what happened in the Democratic primary. How would she know that? Did somebody in the Democratic Party tell her this information, or is she just throwing out more inaccuracies in order to confuse the public? I guess if I were the Republicans I wouldn’t know what else to say in my campaign either. After all, just three short years ago, we the voters gave the Republicans complete control of our township government and they squandered their opportunity to lead. They fought with each other; they embarrassed the township on what seemed like a daily basis; they did nothing to lower water rates, and they sneaked through the condemnation of the Otken farm, even after the voters emphatically showed they were against that action. I hope the voters of North Brunswick realize these letters are coming from the same group of people who blindly supported the past Republican-controlled council at the height of their craziness. After reading these letters, ask yourself, doesn’t this seem like déjà vu all over again? Betty Kessler North Brunswick |
